What we did this week (that I can remember)

I will work my way up, What did T1 do this week:

• opened and closed drawers, unloaded and reloaded them (fine motor and gross motor skills)
• wallow on carpet as brothers dance to interpret along with them the exciting music of Antonio Vivaldi (Music study)
• play with fabric basket (tactile awareness)
• stuffing balled up baby socks in a plastic container and putting on lid, take off unload, redo
• matching lids with plastic bowls
• sitting in my lap while I sew and exploring the CLOSED TIGHT pinking shears
• learning to sign 'more' when wanting more food at meal time

What did W3 do this week:

• asking questions about day and night, often asks in the morning if it is time for the sun to go down...says this because of the cloudy weather which leads to chat about weather basics
• cutting with real big boy scissors on hand drawn lines that are straight, curved and jagged..very challenging(fine motor skills, patience, fortitude)
• help with sorting beans, oats, lentils, rice and,...
• pouring rice and water and cleaning up the spills(practical living skills, fine motor skills, concentration)
• Memorized Psalm 121:2, learning Psalm 23:1
• picking up pallet on floor until next time and putting it away for the day
• learning NOT to eat the toothpaste but just use a LITTLE bit when squeezing
• listening to 'A Child's History of the World' a.k.a., 'umfa, umfa, itchy scratchy' (thank you Oma! we love this book!)
• drawing with a new medium..Oil Pastels
• dirty, wet sandbox play
• dancing fast and slow while listening to Antonio Vivaldi(Music study)
• searched and found Alphabet shapes when drawn on doodle pad by big brother
• helped unload wet laundry into dryer on Learning Tower
• cooking assistance
• stacked blocks large to small and lined up like stairs
• introduced to the art/paintings of John Singer Sargent
• Sweeping up with dustpan and brush
• Pinecone firestarter dipping in wax

What did G6 do this week:

• building robots on Wow Wow Wubzy on Nick Jr. .com and a few other games (self control/patience, fortitude, eye hand coordination, fine motor skills...yes, on the computer)
• consistently completely toileting by himself without nagging or reminders..very proud of himself
• needs a reminder only to take dirty dish, fork, glass, etc. from table to sink/counter
• Memorized Psalm 121:2, learning Psalm 23:1
• Searched and found Alphabet letters when sounded out and used in a word by Mom(Reading lesson)
• Sandbox play
• dancing fast and slow while listening to Antonio Vivaldi (Music study)
• writes name on any paper he can find, sometimes it is in order from G to R and sometimes it is backwards
• set up and worked on keeping train on train track in the floor(patience, fine motor skills)
• unloaded wet laundry into dryer sorting the covers first to dry and then the inserts/soakers to dry second
• Cooking assistance
• introduced to Oil pastels and is drawing and scissoring like crazy..a new thing in the last weeks...lots of art around here..I need an Art Wire!!
• stacked blocks like stairs and then rolled wooden wheels down them without letting them roll off(Math, Physics?)
• introduced to the art of John Singer Sargent specifically, Portrait of Mrs. Wilton Phipps remembering and describing details after I close the book(Attention, concentration, vocabulary)
• Sweeping up with a dustpan and brush
• Dipping pinecone firestarters in wax and also preparing and measuring/cutting yarn to tie on the tops to hold onto while dipping (Math, fine motor skills, accuracy, planning)

And other things that just don't spring to mind right now....but it helps me to analyze what we are doing instead of what I am not with my children.

And what did Mama do (the fun artsy stuff of course..you know about dishes, laundry, diapers, sweeping/vacuuming, etc., etc....?

A little applique and pant lengthening...

A little Valentine heart garland making..thank you Red Bird Crafts. And also making some Pinecone fire starters with the boys as you see in the tub on the mantel. More crafts in the works....I am loving it! Have a great weekend!
