K.I.S.S.

Keep It Simple Stupid.  I don't share that with the children, but I get reminded by them of it, often.  I have often read that "open ended" toys last the longest in durability, provide the most leeway for imaginations to run free and can span a wide age range.  I have acquired wooden blocks, made play silks and have a basket of music instruments, all led by those intentions.  Here is a perfect example that proves, your children do not need to go shop at Toys R Us to make an open ended toy.  This mornings toy?  A dozen or so coconut milk cans.  The only rule?  Please don't dent them. ;)
